Before getting the BP-827 I missed out on capturing some really cool stuff because the BP-809 gave me so little time. This is a great addition to my HG20 camera, I also recently purchased the VL-5 video light for the mini shoe so having the extended battery really helps. As I and in Iraq as I write this having somne place to recharge batteries can be an issue. With well over 2 hundred min with BP-827 I'm good to go. [.].
This battery makes the Canon HF finally usable. The stock battery that comes with the camera is good for about an hour of recording time. At least now I run out of memory before battery life.
The battery pack performs exactly as described. Takes 4-5 hours to fully charge and gives you at least 5 hours of recording time, as long as you are not using an accessory light on the mini-shoe. It is an essential addition as the supplied battery pack gives maybe an hour of time. It would get a "5" if it were not for the extortionist price.
The vidcam is mated to a class 6 32gb SDHC card and it's an ideal combination in taking HD videos with this battery. Ordered this battery for the Canon HF100 prior to a long trip and it's simply amazing. It lasted for 5 hours of recording including reviewing and taking still pictures. The battery does stick out but it's also functional when you're taking videos out from eye level. something to hold onto.
I have a Canon HF S11, and I am thankful I bought this battery. On the highest quality setting (MXP), the battery lasted over 4 hours (it's hard to say exactly how many since I was taking photos plus video). With that kind of capacity, I didn't miss anything. With the HF S11 camcorder, the battery sticks out by about 1 inch, but the camcorder is so small anyway I don't notice it at all.This battery is expensive, but it was worth being able to record without worrying about power or toting the battery charger Canon 2590B002 CG-800 Lithium Ion Battery Charger for 800 Series Batteries.
